I'm excited to welcome guest author
Mina Khan
to the blog today!
See below for her giveaway!
Welcome, Mina! Please share a
little about yourself, your genres, any other pen names you use.
Thanks so much for having me over Laura! Hi, I’m Mina Khan,
author of sexy paranormal romance and adventure stories starring djinns (better
known as genies). I’m also Rashda Khan, a food columnist for a newspaper,
mommy-cake-baker to the kids and @SpiceBites on twitter.
Great! So, tell us a little about your latest or upcoming release.

My latest release,
A
Tale of Two Djinns, is a sexy paranormal Romeo & Juliet story with
genies, feminists, kickass action & adult fun. Fifty percent of the
proceeds are being donated to UNICEF.
Wow, what a wonderful cause! Which character is your favorite and why?
I love my hero Akshay (Shay for short) from A Tale of Two Djinns because he’s a
surprising and complex character. He’s a battle axe of a warrior, but not all
brawn. He wields swords as easily as breathing, yet he’s into plants &
agriculture because it means food for his people, and he believes in true love
and soul mates.
Sounds like a great character! As the author, what surprised you about
this story?
The villain :)
Oh, evil author! Will there be any sequels or other books in the same
series?
While A Tale of Two
Djinns isn’t exactly part of a series, it is the second story with djinns
and set in my djinn world (my first novella, The Djinn’s Dilemma, is about a djinn assassin who falls for his
human target). And I’m working on the next djinn story and have plans for more.
Heh, just can’t give up those sexy djinns!
Love it! What was the hardest thing for you about writing this story?
My father died while I was working on the second draft of
the story. Of course, I stalled. When I started writing again, the story
totally twisted and changed on me, ended up deeper and more complex…more
thoughtful. In the end, I wrote a story to true to my heart, and one my parents
would be proud to read.
What a wonderful tribute to them, Mina! What are you working on right
now?
My third djinn story featuring a fire djinn who loves to
cook…and yes, I’m having a lot of fun with him.
That’s cool! Or, maybe, that’s hot! *winks* What happened to the first
book you ever wrote?
It’s waiting for yet another revision before being sent back
out into the world. I don’t believe in giving up on my stories.
I love that attitude! Have you incorporated actual events or people
from your own life into your books?
Lol, most of my heroes are inspired & based on my
Bollywood & Hollywood crushes. For ex. Akshay was inspired by Bollywood
mancandy Akshay Kumar.
Ooh, very nice! Is there a theme or message that runs through your
work?
In A Tale of Two Djinns,
I ended up writing about my thoughts on life and death, expectations and duties
placed on an individual & the role of women in society. I told you the
story turned complex!
What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
Um, I am part of the Santa Angela Renaissance Guild and we
perform old English country dances for the public. In gorgeous, historically
correct outfits.
Fun! Which romance book or series (or other genre, if you don’t write
romance) do you wish you had written?
J.D. Robb’s In Death series. Love it!
Good pick! Okay now, just for fun:
Milk chocolate or dark chocolate? Dark Chocolate!
Salty or sweet? Salty!
Bed or kitchen table? Both or neither…:P
Beach or mountains? Mountains.
Give or receive? Both.
Akshay, warrior prince of the earth djinns, earns the
title of Crown Prince at a high cost when he loses his best friend in a battle
against ancient enemies, the water djinns. Heartsick, he escapes to Earth to
mourn.
Nothing gets the
biological clock ticking (and elders lecturing) like almost dying in battle, so
Maya, princess of the water djinns, travels to Earth for some
no-strings-attached sex to fulfill her duty and produce an heir. But the
beautiful and tough warrior gets more than she bargained for when she meets
Shay.
Their not-so-simple one-night stand is interrupted by
assassins and the world, as they know it, is changed forever. As Maya and Shay pull
together to survive, both are determined to have their happily-ever-after and
bring peace to their worlds — warring families, shadow assassins, and nosy
busybodies be damned.
Thanks for coming on the blog! Where can we find you on the
web?

UNICEF, please check out my Karma

Excerpt:
Patthar had
died protecting him, now the water djinns would pay.
Akshay threw
back his head and released his anger into the wind. A raw, primal roar ripped
out from deep inside, charged from his throat. He called the molewyrms with
vengeance.
Thunder roared
back in answer. Rain spattered his skin like tears. The ground beneath his feet
shook. What started as a faint tremble broke into bone-shuddering quakes. The
earth split its seams and spat out mud balls and stone.
The rhaksha
lurched in place, eyes wide with fear. Akshay leapt forward, slicing down with
his sword.
With an
ear-piercing howl, the mountain of ugly fell backward, landed with a wet splat.
The air around the creature wavered and reality hiccupped. Instead of an
ungainly rhaksha, a most uncommon woman lay in the mud.
A female in the battlefield? What the hell?
Breath rushed out of Akshay. He twisted his descending blade at the last second
so that it sliced through the fleshy part of her right arm instead of her
throat. A muted cry of pain escaped from between her full lips.
Silver armor, like glittering fish
scales, covered her head and slim body and, damn, she had legs that just kept
going. Double damn, he’d always been a leg man. His gaze jerked back up and met
terrified whiskey-colored eyes set in an elfin face of the most delicate blue
of a robin’s egg.
Tremors wracked the battlefield as
more molewyrms tore out of the ground. One appeared so near that a shower of
mud covered Akshay from head to toe. When he’d wiped the grime of his face, the
woman had vanished.
