Aubrie is here celebrating her soon-to-release science fiction romance Haven 6. She's got a great post on character continuity within a series. Read on...

How the main characters in Haven 6 are related to the characters throughout the series?

I pondered how I was going to tie in Haven 6 and the rest of the series for a very long time. What I wanted to show was humanity surviving throughout the centuries. So, James Wilfred in A Hero Rising (the prequel) is the great great great grandfather of Striker in Paradise 21, and he’s the great great great grandfather of Striver, the main character in Haven 6

This lineage shows the progression from Old Earth, to the colony ships, to inhabiting the planets; the complete journey! In a way, it’s melancholy because the previous characters are long gone, but in another way, it’s hopeful, because their descendants live on in their name, even sporting some of their character traits. Life goes on, and it’s a big cycle in which a hero sometimes needs to rise.

Striver is a very special character for me, because he has a lot of James and Striker in him. It’s like those characters combined to make someone who’s honest, hard-working, noble, and forgiving to a fault-much more forgiving than Striker ever was. He’s evolved from his ancestors, and from his situation, using the past to make sure their future is better then the one they left behind.

Read more about Striver in Haven 6!
A product of an illegal pairing, Eridani is the only woman without a lifemate aboard the colonization ship, the Heritage, and she is determined her less than perfect DNA will not get in the way of finding love. As the ship nears it's final destination of Haven 6 after five hundred years of travel, images of the surface show evidence of intelligent life on a planet that's supposed to be uninhabited. Commander Grier assigns Eri to the exploratory team to spy on the alien society and return with information on how to defeat them.

When Eri's team lands, tribes of humans attack and Eri is saved by Striver, the descendant of a colonist and a pirate from Old Earth's colonization efforts in other parts of the galaxy. Striver helps Eri rescue her team and they are drawn to each other despite their different allegiances. While Striver battles with trusting Eri, Eri must decide whether to warn him and his people about the commander's intentions, or follow orders and complete her mission.

Hi Aubrie,
Congrats on your newest release! It sounds very cool! I haven't read a sci fi romance in a VERY long time. After reading this post, I added HAVEN 6 to my TBR list. I just ordered Firefly & Serenity to my Netflix list and am about to watch them for the first time. I think I'm on a Sci Fi kick :) Your book will fit in nicely! Does this series need to be read in order or can HAVEN 6 be a stand alone?

Thank you,
Selena Mc

Selena,

All of the books in my series can be read as stand alones, however, haven 6 will have extra meaning if you read Paradise 21.

Thanks for stopping by!

books4me- This is the last one in the series. :( I know, I'm a little sad to see it end.

There's a novella prequel, then three novel length books.

Julie, thanks for adding it!

Laura, these are great comments! I'm so excited to be here today!

I'm amazed, I must say. Seldom do I encounter a blog
that's equally educative and engaging, and without a doubt, you've hit the nail on the head.
The problem is an issue that too few folks are speaking intelligently about.
I'm very happy I came across this in my hunt for something relating to this.

With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any
issues of plagorism or copyright infringement? My website has a lot of exclusive
content I've either authored myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the web
without my permission. Do you know any solutions to help reduce content from being
stolen? I'd genuinely appreciate it.
